Topic: [APPROVED] [BUR] dragon_horn is not a thing

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #11726 is active.

remove implication dragon_horn (349) -> horn (734881)
create alias draconic_horn (0) -> horn (734881)
create alias draconic_horns (0) -> horn (734881)

Reason: There's is no consensus as to what a "dragon horn" should look like. Is it straight, curved, spiraled, circular, or in zigzag? Long, or short? Smooth, or ridged? Thick of slim? Is it curving upward, outward, forward, or backward? Is there branches or not?

There's absolutely no guideline to what a dragon horn is, therefore any horn can be a dragon horn, therefore the tag is not usefull

step 3

alias dragon_horn -> horn
alias dragon_horns -> horn # has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through BUR

EDIT: The bulk update request #11726 (forum #459647) has been approved by @spe.

The first few posts that are visible from the wiki page have a distinct style
Either way nothing here should be aliased to invalid tag

And more for the BUR:
You cannot alias a tag with existing aliases/implications in a BUR, you have to remove them first, then add all of the aliases back in a later BUR
You also cannot do an alias and update in the same BUR, the execution of the script does not happen sequentially, different lines will almost certainly be concurrently executed

The problem is that they are all different from each other, and they individually could be all reclassed in existing concrete categories

drgon_horn is more about dragon-having-horns than a distinctive shape

And they're not specifically 'dragon' any more than dragon_penis would be. Even if a specific tag for the style of horns is warranted, calling them "dragon horns" doesn't really clarify what kind of horns they are (since dragons aren't real, they can't be said to have a specific type of horns).

But, I do agree that aliasing to invalid_tag isn't really the best option. It would probably be better to alias it to either dragon or horn.

Good point, I guess whatever is decided here should be mirrored to dragon_penis as well.

Well, someone could go and look at the posts and determine what shape a dragon horn should have based on the general understanding of the communit:

That's the other option is to defined the general look in its wiki an in the horn wiki's tables.

Generally What I see are backward pointing, slightly wavy/curvy horns.

I agree that dragon_horn and variants are not needed tags, but they should definitely be aliased to something other than invalid_tag. Honestly, just aliasing them to horn would be the simplest, the same way that dragon_penis was aliased to penis.

I'm not against the creation of a tag specifically for backwards facing curvy/wavy horns, but it would need a descriptive name so it doesn't become confusing, and I don't think that dragon_horn etc should be aliased to this hypothetical tag because a person tagging dragon_horn may have a different idea in mind when adding it.

The BUR as you currently have it won't work - you can't alias things to dragon_horn then alias away dragon_horn in a second part. Alias the others to horn directly instead, which will allow the second part to work.

Looks like the dragon_horns -> dragon_horn alias is messing with it, so you’ll need to do an alias request instead of a BUR, or make another 3rd BUR

yeah, you have to remove all BTRs, you only removed the implication earlier

Learning still; growing pains I guess.
