Topic: Is e621 or the tag "young" banned in the UK?

Posted under Off Topic

I didn't really find so much information in another sites nor on this. Does someone from the UK or someone that know about its law know if this site is illegal there, or if the young tag is actually banned? What people in there usually do? I'm not from the UK so, I have no knowledge about that.

If the government/ISP wants to ban something, they would ban the whole site entirely.

If people are having trouble accessing the young tag, make sure it isn't added onto their blacklist.

In the UK cubs are not banned (hence, Inkbunny is hosted there) although young humans are, but keep in mind "young" is on the default blacklist here and needs to be removed while logged in here. And no, this site is not illegal there per se. If you're having trouble accessing such stuff, what most people do is use a good VPN like Mullvad or Proton to get around any site blocks mandated by idiots who shouldn't be making policies to begin with.

Unless they'd block VPNs, that is.

They can have fun with that if they do. For reference, even China's Great Firewall can be defeated with a good VPN (e.g. via Shadowsocks). A sophisticated enough VPN invalidates VPN blocks.

Also, I'd like to add that certain tags would not be disabled in certain countries on e621. While this is definitely possible to do (e.g. Pixiv's deliberately rudimentary implementation to shut credit card companies up), e621 has no such functionality at the moment.

It would be interesting than just slapping an IP block to some countries plus users could still access most of the content.
