The tag alias #77956 anxiouslynx -> anxy is pending approval.

Reason: Hi! Artist here, I mostly go by two main names online, so it would be handy if they linked to each other, thank you! in the same vein, if you could change character tag 'anxy' into 'renn_(anxy)' that would be awesome.

An alias doesn't work like that. The former (your artist name in this case) would automatically be changed to the latter, meaning that it would become empty and only Anxy would have the results.
You can make this a BUR:

update anxy -> renn_(anxy)
category renn_(anxy) -> character
alias anxiouslynx -> anxy
category anxy -> artist

Make it into two separate BURs actually, since IIRC the system does not go through the requests in order.

Doing it all in one BUR may result in the artist alias (i.e., alias anxiouslynx -> anxy) being pushed through first, before the mass update (i.e., update anxy -> renn_(anxy)) pushes every artwork the artist has made into the character tag.

I did not know that but also that does sound vaguely familiar

mass update anxy -> renn_(anxy)
change category renn_(anxy) (0) -> character # missing
change category anxy (10) -> artist

Reason: Actually, the OP alias request is fine, but only if this BUR (as Nin10dope lays out) is pushed through first.
