Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: rio_the_lucario -> rio_the_lucario_(nerdylucariobabe)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #77677 rio_the_lucario -> rio_the_lucario_(nerdylucariobabe) has been rejected.

Reason: Remaking the tag so that it fits within the tag naming convention. Also remade the alias request because I'm a big dummy dumb dumb and didn't proofread my previous spelling.

EDIT: The tag alias rio_the_lucario -> rio_the_lucario_(nerdylucariobabe) (forum #456104) has been rejected by @Bird-TM.

Tags don't need a suffix unless they're potentially ambiguous, in which case it shouldn't be aliased to a specific one.

There's such a small number of posts that a person could easily move them into a new tag without using an alias (which is a very big and blunt tool considering the situation)

But as Watsit said, I don't think the suffix is needed.

It does not fit naming convention at all, see howto:tag characters.
Though not explicitly mentioned on the help page, we prioritise the naming format as follows:

  • 1) Unique single-worded name (e.g., draquarus).
  • 2) Unique first & last name (e.g., biggus_dickus).
  • 3) Common first name, with character owner/copyright suffix (e.g., rio_(nerdylucariobabe)).
    • Used when last name is unknown and a suffix becomes necessary due to the common first name.
  • 4) Common first name, with species suffix (e.g., rio_the_lucario).
  • 5) Common first name, with shared character owner & different species suffix (e.g., rio_the_lucario_(nerdylucariobabe)).
    • Not recommended at all if the above choices are available.
    • Only used in extreme circumstances where the character owner has two characters with the same name and requires a species disambiguator.

For the current suggestion, rio_(nerdylucariobabe) should take precedence. Otherwise, rio_the_lucario is fine as it is since it is unique on its own.
Also, an alias request is completely unnecessary since the tag only has 4 posts. It is much faster to manually fix it rather than waiting for the request to be processed.

I’d object on the same grounds as others, especially as rio_the_lucario used to be my artist handle xD

It’s a very common name for sure.

Syuro's Rio is actually the riolu in these posts. but otherwise, yeah.

It does become a Lucario in the second half of post #5561238 (which I'll go ahead and add the rio_(syuro) tag to now), though it's hard to tell. But anyways, yeah, there are multiple Lucarios named Rio.

All of you make very valid points, and as such, I'm gonna do what has been suggested thus far.
Closing this, and re-opening with the suggestions in mind.
