Instead of aliasing, implicating would be a better idea since FaceTime is copyrighted by Apple.

Eh, I just don't see it necessary to have the distinction, but it seems I'm in the minority here

Not sure why there's such an overwhelming disagreement here. There's not a difference in how these tags get used.

Copyright -> General
That's probably why, they don't want to alias across categories

An alias crossing categories is fine, as long as the alias itself is good. Normally tags for specific apps or services are used when there's particular visual elements to identify it (e.g. a logo or UI design). If there's nothing to distinguish a specific app from the general activity it performs that other apps can also do, there's no reason not to alias it.

Yeah the UI elements in the facetime tag are completely inconsistent and generic.

Without looking at the posts in question, if any of them depict the logo or app symbol then that's probably enough justification to exist. Call it a privilege of being a Copyright lmao :P

While cross category aliases are fine this alias will make video call a copyright tag since the tag has less than 10,000 posts

Aliases will transfer the antecedent's category to the consequent unless the consequent is locked or has over 10,000 posts, so it might be a good idea to change the antecedent to general before aliasing

Either that or have a BUR ready to change the category back once the alias is approved

It seems to already be a general tag
