I agree with this alias.

d'aww is the next level of cute; specifically, there's things that you go, "oh, that's cute." and then there's things that make you go "*squee* 'D'aaaawwwwwwww!~' " or the like.
They are being used in the same way :/, cute is cute. If a cute picture makes you "daaw", that's a personal opinion that is even more subjective than the cute tag itself.

Already one of those is handled. "The following tags are aliased to this tag: dawww, daw, d'aw, d'aww, d'awww".

If they're being used in the same way, then that's the fault of people tagging. :/ That, or we need to find a more appropriate next-level word for super-cute to use as the tag. As for being subjective, actually it's not meant to be (thus the tagger's issue I stated above); cute is meant to be used to illustrate images that are drawn to be overly cutesy and dainty. There is a difference between subjectively cute and objectively cute. http://wallike.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Cute-Cat-Pictures-640x360.jpg is a picture taken with the specific intent of evoking a "that's cute!" reaction, emphasizing those aspects that would most cause such a reaction. Comparatively, http://picpulp.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/cute-love-puzzle-quote-Favim.com-481303.jpg?f3256a is closer to being subjectively cute, because it is evoking the emotion solely, not illustrating traits that define "cute" physically.

Why would we even need a tag for some "next-level" (though it's really the same) of cute? they are both essentially the same, I can't really think of somebody that would even want to search that, if you want a cute picture, then you look up for the cute tag, I don't see the need of splitting it into levels. :S
Because there's a difference? D'aww is meant for those images that even when you're in afoul mood you smile, if but for a moment, upon seeing it; Objectively, it's because they are cuter than cute, or hyper-cute. Cute is just as I described above.

I guess I'll wait for other/more opinions (if there are), as I still don't see that difference you keep saying, but then again it's just my opinion.
