Wouldn't punishment sex be good enough? I don't think a separate tag that's just a combination of two other tags is needed.

Because this tag denotes that the punishment itself is sex. There can be plenty of scenarios where sex is happening but unrelated to the punishment

Looking at the results of "punishment sex", there doesn't seem to be all that many. punishment_sex is woefully undertagged and unreliable in comparison, so people would need to search punishment sex to get it anyway.

There might be a renaissance where someone goes on a tagging spree for punishment_sex

how are any of these obviously punishment sex, half of them just rely on outside knowledge. these were just some of the first posts, there are a lot more that have no reference to anything about punishment

yeah, even then it could just be bondage and rough sex. almost all of the examples in the tag don't have anything, not even dialogue, hinting at anything about being an actual punishment. there area few that do have dialogue, but as dialogue tends to not count with twys, it's really hard for me to advocate to keep this tag

I feel like, in concept, the tag has enough of a reason to exist, and I feel like there's enough potential for false positives with punishment sex (punishment for having sex, sex after punishment, etc.) for it to be a separate concept.
that being said, I don't really love the name, punishment_sex feels kinda nebulous to me, and I think that might be part of the problem with mistags, there is also the other existing rape_as_punishment which has essentially the same meaning which I think is slightly better.
I think something like sexual_punishment might be the best overall, since it could cover, in addition to actual sex/rape, a wider gamut of things that'd still be considered "sexual" including genital_torture or the use of a chastity_device as disciplinary action.

I would just call those mistags. There's many posts where sex is explicitly invoked as punishment.
