Topic: Tagging transgender characters pre/post-transition

When I came out as trans, I had my character updated to also be trans including a name change from Damian to Alice. Now, there's art of the character pre-transition and post-transition and I'm having trouble finding guidance on how to tag the different pictures. In particular, I'm looking for advice on what name to tag them with and whether to include the trans_woman_(lore) tag.

You tag their genders according to what they visually appear to be on the posts (i.e., either male, intersex/gynomorph, or female), see howto:tag genders for more information.
After that, to clarify that lore-wise they are trans woman, you may include the trans_woman_(lore) tag onto your posts regardless of transition status.

Name change doesn't matter. You may tag them both as either Damian or Alice (and aliasing away the old name), or if you so wish, keep them separated too.
You can also edit the character tag's wiki to include any lore related information, such as their names before and after transitioning.

Ideally it should only be applied when the character is trans if that later changes, e.g. if they have an in-lore transition or are otherwise later made trans without updating earlier lore
If they want to just change everything from now to creation into trans then applying the tag to every single instance would make sense
This has been seen in action for some characters, not that I can remember any of the names though

Just slap trans_(lore) on all applicable posts*. You can also specify trans_woman_(lore)
*The applicable posts being any of the intersex and female tagged images.

I would say that should be the case, as with how we deal with other gender lore tags.
However, the wiki specifies that the tag is for transgender characters "whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth ... regardless of the physical or biological sex they are depicted as in the post."

I interpret that as meaning it can be tagged on any post regardless of visually depicted gender, if the artist or character owner so wishes.

The trans lore tags indeed have no gender restriction, they are completely off on their own with practically no restrictions

if it's your your character, it's really up to you.

if you want to remove the old name from posts with the character and update it to the current one, you can do that, if you want to create an alias to do the same, you can request that as well. or you can choose to leave the posts and the tags as-is.

if you want to tag all the posts with the character as trans, you can do that. if you'd prefer to pick a point where the character, like, started being trans you can choose to only tag the posts after that with trans tags.

That's really the short and clean answer. :P
