Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: number_3 -> fifi_(monster_hunter_stories)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #76356 number_3 -> fifi_(monster_hunter_stories) has been rejected.

Reason: Monster Hunter Stories has a group of Felynes referred to as The Numbers, and each character within the numbers are referred to as said number (Number 1, Number 2, etc.). However, each character in The Numbers has a real name, and they are as follows:

Number One --> Beats
Number Two --> Cryo
Number Three --> Fifi (the most-tagged of the group)
Number Four --> Spex
Number Six --> Floof

Number Five of the group, Navirou, has their name kept intact in their tag. I would like all of the other listed characters to have their proper names as their tags as well for both clarity's sake and convenience's sake.

Let me know if I need to make posts for the other four listed characters.

(P.S. I specify monster_hunter_world specifically since a popular character from the sequel, Tsukino, has her character tag included with monster_hunter_world.)

EDIT: The tag alias number_3 -> fifi_(monster_hunter_stories) (forum #448194) has been rejected by @spe.

In general, it is bad practice to alias generic sounding names to a specific name.
We should always consider whether or not the exact same names could be used by anybody outside that franchise, no matter how weirdly obscure.

For future reference, use a Bulk Update Request (BUR) if you want to suggest multiple related aliases/implications at once.

Would this not be reason to change the tag/name(s) then? Number_[x] is very generic and can apply to multiple characters such as the ones in the links you provided, which is a reason why I suggested the change.

Thank you for letting me know!

What you are looking for is a mass update (only applicable through BURs) rather than an alias.

An alias would turn all subsequent tagging of number_3 be turned into fifi_(monster_hunter_stories), which is what we are trying to avoid since the former can apply to multiple characters.
Meanwhile, a mass update would move all posts in number_3 to fifi_(monster_hunter_stories) and leave number_3 still taggable in the future (and potentially be turned into a disambiguation if needed).

Ohhhh, my apologies then. ^^' Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
