I think it is part of the censorship law thing. so By having that up e621 is legally within the Law of the dumb censorship rule and Their is Nothing the Law can actual do now. IE try to shut the site down.

Dumb censorship Law - 0

E621 - 1

Why are you conspiracy posting everywhere
This is nothing but an April fools joke, it gets done every year and will be removed once it's over

We do not save them anywhere through the system itself.

Ah. Understandable. Someone somewhere is probably going to put personal info.

While it's probably a pain for the staff, it is kind of cool (to me at least) to see the sort of large outpouring of creativity even if the art doesn't meet standards. Just seeing so many people do art, regardless, is just kind of nice or neat. Sorry for the mess, though.

Had it not been 1st of April, I would've written "this is the dumbest thing ever".

Absolutely love the april fools joke, made a cute little doodle, will we be able to see everyone's "Furid"? :>

If only because everyone posting theirs because they think they're being clever. :P

I did not get a laugh out of it, but rather angst and dread instead. I can't draw for shit, and hate to be IDed by sites, and prefer to avoid those sites. When I realized the time of year I just hit submit on the blank, and silently cursed at the site's administrators for taking part in that abhorrent tradition.

Where is the opt in for this shit, and how did it get toggled on?

Being asked to draw my fursona(which technically is my Warnersona but I think it still counts) made me realize not only do I miss drawing, but that I should try posting my art on here 😅

To the admins: please keep our shitty drawings, some of us have spent way too much time on them lol

if you didn't save the image it's gone.

This is why when you do april fools code you implement checks into prod

something like this (this part is not real code and is just to show one logical way to do it)

if [ CheckDate(mmdd) == "0401" ]; then <april fools activation trigger> fi

In a bash script I made ages ago that used this idea I literally had this snippet (this part is real code)
if [ $(date +%m%d) == "0401" ]; then zenity \ --info \ --text="<span size=\"x-large\">Happy April Fools day\nIm not a jerk this popup is all you will see as far as \"pranks\", \nMay you be safe from all the annoying \"pranks\" that are just plain stupid.</span>" \ --title="Happy April Fools Day\!" \ --ok-label="Thanks for not being a jerk\!" fi
This code will never false trigger on non-april first (checks if user's date is actually April first) and is relatively in-obtrusive and completely honest

one way this could be implemented and made universal is using a js snippet like
<script> (dateChecker() { // Get the current date var now = new Date(); // Format the month and day with leading zeros (e.g., "04" for April) // This looks weird because the getMonth() method returns a zero-indexed month // For 11 as an example it creates a string by concatenating "0" with 11, resulting in "011". // The .slice(-2) method extracts the last two characters of that string, which gives you "11". // For 2 as an example it creates a string by concatenating "0" with 2, resulting in "02". // The .slice(-2) method extracts the last two characters of that string, which gives you "02". var month = ("0" + (now.getMonth() + 1)).slice(-2); var day = ("0" + now.getDate()).slice(-2); // Combine month and day to get the "mmdd" format var formattedDate = month + day; // Check if formattedDate matches "0401" if (formattedDate === "0401") { console.log("Today is April 1st! Setting aprilFools flag to TRUE."); let aprilFools = true; } else { // Technically not needed as april fools trigger should be checking (aprilFools === true) and a null value does not equal true console.log("Today is NOT April 1st! Setting aprilFools flag to FALSE."); let aprilFools = false; } // // Add other checks here // // Check if formattedDate matches "mmdd" // if (formattedDate === "mmdd") { // console.log("Today is <Human Friendly Date>! Doing something."); // // <do something> // } })(); </script>

Edit: Obviously you'd remove the console.log messages and minify in prod but this is POC code

Lmao, got me in one! XD

For a second there I was thinking that e621's crew created a ID verification business just to stick it to the nosy bastards pushing that law by making it drawings of all things!

Okay, honest opinion.

The new ID Check is out and I have to draw my Fursona?? I'm not a good artist, especially on phone, I usually pay Artists.

So does that mean I'm not gonna be able to verify if I can't draw? Also, the phone version seems to be bugged and I can't draw lines, only some short dots.

What is your opinion on this?

EDIT: i forgot it's April Fools

I can’t lie, I was a bit concerned at first,
But then I thought “how are they gonna verify everyone? In comparison to what?”

I got a very bad day of around, more than one day and some hours, and sent them a message. I'm chill and silent 99% of the time when here, and this is the first time i write on the site. Also i got told about april fish so i bought a pack of 15 breaded fishy sticks and i won't get mad, just annoyed.

Btw i did a decent drawing, and tomorrow i'll eat well.

Can I get a redo? I didn't save mine and thought I could go back to it later.

If you open e6 in an incognito tab or a new browser or anything like that, you should get the prompt again.

I was really confused at first and a bit p-ed off, but I did just wake up from a nap and at the moment it is almost 9:30pm for me, so I did not even realize that it would be an april fools prank. Well done you got me, I usually dont get got, but I just woke up so it barely even counts anyways.

I don't have a fursona, is that bad?

Nope you can just doodle however you wish. I actually logged in drawing a side profile of my actual sona in a manga like manner. As in the same style Yoshihiro Togashi uses for his Avatar when writing and Illustrating manga

Ah I'm happy seeing everyone being happy and having their fun :)

Oh thank God. I was logging in post March 31st and saw this. My face (IRL) went pale for about a second until I realized. Wait a damn minute. I realize what day it is and begin laughing like SpongeBob for a minute.

I genuinely panicked then realized it's April 1st. Hahaha y'all got me good. Oh my God I'm gonna see if any of my friends who are on here has seen it yet.

April Fools day joke.
Actually not bad.
I generally don’t like April Fools jokes much as they tend to be downright mean, focusing on either shocking you or saying you’re stupid, but given the current issues, this seems more relevant.
It also helps that I was suspicious to begin with, and noticed immediately that the “ID check” didn’t actually include any way to check ID.
I just drew a smiley face.

I generally despise April Fools day jokes like this, but I give this a begrudging pass as a “wake up call and comment on current situation”.

Honestly I think that's a missed opportunity to have some kind of collage of community april fools day submissions, kinda like how reddit does r/Place. Obviously with a prompt saying it's a joke and if they would like to include it in the collage XP

"even if the art doesn't meet standards."

Well that's not an issue for me, for my recreation of Hammsuke is impeccable. Better then the original even! I know this for a fact! because I drew it my self. And I'm only a little bit narcissistic.

bro, in the past 11 months you've received 3 negatives and a neutral because you can't help but make your dislike of things everyone else's problem. on average that's like a record every 50 comments.

What's your point? I like speaking out against things I don't like

Well, the word standards is a probably a lot more rude or judgemental than I meant, and I went back and forth on if I should put it in quotes or not, but I figured that would would then sound argumentative against the rules of the site.

You seem to also like getting banned for repeatedly breaking rules that have been cited to you numerous times. Why are you even here if you're just going to keep breaking the rules over and over

Clearly all you need to do is draw boykisser instead

I did my best, I am terrible at drawing with the Mouse cursor. It looks terrible! D:

Cus (most) rules are for looooseeeeers

I've logged in already thrice today just to browse these IDs. These have been great!

Someone nuked their account for this? Incredible.

I mean, the account had 0 interactions and was only created a few weeks ago, not much to nuke.

So last that I checked, it's April 2nd and someone I know noticed the FurID notification is still showing up.

What is the plan moving forward? I see people suggesting keeping the feature, but others feel like it should be taken down by now.

I think a nice in-between would be nice, since some don't like to be reminded this is a parody of a law we fear will be put in place. Perhaps we should have a re-birth of the classic Oekaki feature?
