Topic: Pornographic images in neutral tags

Posted under General

I wonder if non-sexual tags should have only, or whenever possible, non-nsfw images as example thumbnails on their wikis. This happens a lot with characters, where nsfw examples are used where sfw ones could easily have been.

I know there is the sfw mirror site e926 (that still requires you to be overage for some reason) that have the exact same tag descriptions (so it could be beneficial for them examples that they can actually see) and I also know that, although this site didn’t start as a porn site, everyone many people consider it to be now, but I still feel that sfw imagery should be preferred when possible.

Ideally yes, but sometimes, NSFW imagery and descriptions cannot be avoided.
You would want to prioritise clarity of the tag's description/examples over forcing it to be SFW.

e926 is not meant to be a "family-friendly" version of e621, as users can still access the very-adult tag wikis, comments, and forum discussions.
It shouldn't be a surprise as to why users under 18 are instantly banned, regardless of which site they frequent.

Unofficially they are preferred. I'll say that sometimes there's other factors like accuracy and visibility.

Because allowing minors anywhere near this place is a recipe for disaster
e926's filtering is absolutely not foolproof, there's the rating and a few tags that are filtered and that's it

generally, when possible, I try to use the fewest (and least) explicit and objectionable (like stuff that's on the default blacklist) images when giving examples for any wiki pages, as well as tag discussions on the forums. the it's kind of a balancing act sometimes, though. sometimes a more explicit image is required for getting the full concept of a tag's use.
