Topic: Either a horrific or honorific BUR

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #10368 is pending approval.

create alias english_honorific (973) -> text (1275302)
create alias honorific (1074) -> text (1275302)
create alias japanese_honorific (67) -> text (1275302)

Reason: What do you think of this tag?
Seems to have been made by Fluffball so I believe the general mood would be to alias it away. Doubly so since it's a dialogue tag. Though it might have some use. The more specific ones will likely have to go.

First attempt: Aliasing them to text (non insignificant numbers of posts with the tag don't have dialogue)

Updated

I'm not a huge fan of these tags. English_honorific is a bit dubious, but I guess the use case is "respectful" titles like "master" or "sir", which could be part of a domination/submission dynamic or indicative of a formal setting. Those might be things someone might want to search for. However, japanese_honorific feels particularly silly. "-chan"/"-kun" fall into this category, despite being casual in nature. Not to mention, assuming the post is in actual Japanese, there could be a discrepancy between the original phrasing and the user-provided translation (that anyone could edit at any time), since translations are meant to sound natural--not necessarily perfectly match every minute detail of the original phrasing.

I seem to like it? I don't remember using it that much. I may have been editing the wiki pages a bit one time and locked the pages briefly because of a zealous user undoing my edits for no reason (we then had a DM discussion after that before I unlocked it), but I don't care whether or not the tags themselves stay.
