Points aren't always sharp.

maybe elsewhere but in this context it is. the usage of these tags is exactly same and i dont believe that anyone would use pointy teeth for anything else than sharp teeth

(I think) We had a discussion about this alias not long ago, I can't seem to find it at the moment tho.

Previous discussion: forum #145971 (also forum #147492, forum #151212)

Summary:

  • teeth - Mouth full of teeth. Usage-wise it's probably more as the focus of the picture than just "some guy in the background who happens to be smiling", but I'm sure we have both to some degree.
    • sharp_teeth - A mouth full of teeth that would probably menacing and rend flesh quite well.
  • fangs - Everything from snake fangs and vampire fangs to kawaii catgirl fangs (see also cute_fangs)
  • pointy_teeth - ...No discussion, actually. What we do with it is pretty wide open.

I would have assumed that usage would be split between fangs and sharp_teeth, but it seems to have gotten used to mostly refer to sharp_teeth, which actually surprised me.

I manually cleared out this tag on this one, most of which was sharp_teeth, a couple fangs, and one that I don't even know what. Since it hasn't been tagged on much anyways and those that are have a mix of meanings, this alias is denied. If it becomes problematic we can always consider aliasing it to teeth or one of the others instead.
