To me, a capelet is fastened at the neck the same way a cape is, while a shawl isn't. But it looks like they're both very mixed up and could use cleanup and clearer wikis.

If the only difference is a fastener that might not be visible from every angle, I wonder if it's not worth the hassle of trying to keep them separate.
