I'm not sure that level of pedantry is really necessary on what is primarily a furry porn site. That being said, b1_centauro would probably be a better tag for it anyway...
It's possible to replace tags, for anyone. If they are valid, and you know what you are talking about, feel free to do so.

I've already removed the tag from the only image it was on, but I don't use this forum enough to know how to do much else.

I've seen some worse "pedantry" encouraged by others, including moderators, and military classification isn't pedantry. Don't want to be using incendiary tracer when you need HEIAP.
As long as the "pedantry" isn't hurting anyone, correcting tags should be encouraged, no? I specifically searched for a tank using the tag "tank", and I got an MGS. How would you feel if you searched for ass and got something you didn't want?

You don't need to do anything else. Tags are often being created and then get cleaned out and abandoned without a problem. They only need to be dealt with if re-adding them is a consistent problem, and a very rare mistag like this is unlikely to be a further problem.

If a tag being readded is a problem, then you can request an alias away, or category change to invalid.
