The tag alias #58966 thigh_high_stockings -> thigh_socks has been rejected.

Reason: They functionally mean the same thing, and are essentially duplicate tags
thigh_stockings and thigh_thighs as well should be aliased to thigh_socks

They do seem to be identical tags in practice.

I think the difference, technically speaking, is that socks are never translucent, whereas stockings can be translucent (or “sheer”). However, given that translucent_stockings exists, that distinction is pretty pointless.

That being said, I think it would make more sense to reverse this alias, getting rid of thigh_socks instead. Thigh_socks implies socks, but I think most, if not all examples of thigh_socks would be better tagged as stockings instead. Considering that stockings can also be made of a thick material like socks are, I’m not sure where the distinction between the two lies.

That would also work. However it's solved, the tags surrounding this type of legwear are cluttered and are used pretty much interchangeably. We could try to make their definitions more distinct and keep them as separate tags, but then there'd be a massive amount of posts that are mistagged.

Reason: While stockings can technically be of any length, the term is most commonly used for thigh-high stockings, which makes the thigh_high_stockings tag sort of redundant. If they're not thigh-high, I would probably rather just tag them as socks, to be honest.
