The tag implication #43565 pie -> nothing has been rejected.

Reason: Pie shouldn't implicate dessert; meat pies aren't desserts, and there are pies that are clearly not dessert pies tagged as such. This is a very important thing to change.

EDIT: The tag implication pie -> nothing (forum #328612) has been rejected by @bitWolfy.

The bulk update request #2101 is active.

remove implication pie (2059) -> dessert (48561)
create implication pie (2059) -> pastry (6454)

Reason: The above implication request would actually add the “nothing” tag to be implied by “pie” rather than removing the “dessert” implication. That being said, I think the logic is sound. Not all pies are desserts - take the shepherds pie for example. It should imply pastry instead.

Afterwards, the following BUR can have each dessert pie imply dessert so things like meat pies doesn’t get the tag.

I left out moon pie pending further discussion. While it is a dessert, I’m not sure that it actually counts as a pie. People searching for pies probably aren’t looking for moon pies. EDIT: I looked it up: a moon pie is definitely not a pie, it’s actually a cake.

For clarification, what you're suggesting at the moment is for the "pie" tag to imply a tag called "nothing", meaning every post tagged with "pie" would also be tagged with "nothing".

...I mean, shepherd's pie isn't a pastry either. There's no crust, it's meat with a layer of mashed potato on top. However I don't think shepherd's pie should count for the pie tag anyway since there's no crust, it's more like a casserole imo.

Given pie is defined on the wiki as "a foodstuff consisting of a pastry crust holding a filling" (and also, emphasis added, that it "may be either sweet, in the case of a dessert, or a savoury, in the case of a main course")... yeah. While shepherd's pie is savory, it isn't a pastry and so, on the wiki's terms, isn't pie.

casserole exists but only has 3 uses at the moment. Are there any other previously tagged foodstuffs that would suit casserole?
