Topic: Tag Deimplication: zafara -> neopets

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I'm requesting that the neopets implication be removed from zafara (or, ideally, moved to zafara_(neopets)) for two reasons:

1 ) There are two distinct zafaras: one is the artist (zafara_(artist)) and the other the Neopet species mentioned above.

2 ) As it sits, anything either by the artist or featuring a Zafara Neopet is already disambiguated appropriately (save for post #1475065 ) and so the tag at present is practically empty; I took the effort of doing this a couple months ago.

So, I am terrible sick (again) and am totally bewoozled on cold medicine right now.

But this has been brought up recently in forum #252992

Since it is coming up again, we really ought to address this.

Though I will say, for the future, if a tag has an implication that you thought ought to not be there, you should discuss with the forums about the matter before you go through the effort of doing a retagging project--it's possible that there are aspects you are not aware of <3 I don't think that this is the case here, but preemptive discussion is a good thing.

(for the future, I would say it would be wisest to separate out the _(artist) but leave the species alone, while waiting for replies to your post. <3 But that's just what I would do... or think I would do. I am very not mentally firm at the moment.

Please make sure you drink lots of vitamin C. Colds are not fun.

The problem is that, by all appearances, the ones tagging the artist with the undisambiguated name are not aware the Neopet exists, which results in a really messy tag situation overall, as stuff which has nothing to do with Neopets what-so-ever is tagged as such because of the implication. Zafara themselves hasn't drawn any Neopets-related art as far as I can tell.

Sorry for resurrecting this, but can this tag be unimplicated? We still have images like post #1718825 and post #1575288 getting the Neopets tag implied despite the image not including anything remotely Neopets-related in it because people aren't dabbing the tag.

With only two tags to it,should we alias it to zafara_(artist) or zafara_(neopets) instead? I think a person would more easily see a missing artist tag than a missing species tag, but the artist tag seems to be more popular.

Would aliasing the tag to the artist negate the implication? As it is, the undabbed tag is an artist one and is the one implying neopets, which the artist has never drawn to my knowledge.

That's because somebody manually changed the type of it to be an artist tag instead of a species tag. I don't know if aliasing it away without moving the implication would really work out; the admins are pretty good about moving implications alongside the alias.

Ideally, what I would want is:

*Zafara_(artist) aliasing to Zafara, as it's the more common of the two tags
*The current implication on Zafara instead being applied to Zafara_(neopets)

-1. The generic, no suffix tag Zafara is too misleading at this point. It is and has been a Neopet for years, but [is more commonly used for the artist now], from what I'm reading from your post.

The first pic Zafara drew that was uploaded here was uploaded 30 Nov 2013. The Neopet has been around longer, yes, but I've noticed that as far as art goes, Neopets tends to be obscure (mainly due to disinclination of people to upload fanart) - which is why the undabbed tag is an artist tag (I get the impression the people uploading it are unaware the Neopet exists, and I can honestly hardly blame them).

The artist's stuff that's been uploaded is, at present, damn near double what the neopet has (100 vs. 52).

You can't have Zafara be an existing tag when two tags would try to use it. They are both well over thirty posts, so they're both popular.
