The Avali species did not originate from Starbound. It originated from one individual who created the species. They existed before they were implemented as a Starbound mod. However, they became more well-known through Starbound, but the origin is what matters.

They've also started showing up in mods for other games, like Rimworld.

There's no such implication existing.

Nor does the Avali wiki page specify any game (although the official wiki does list games they're in).
