Many of those don't fit in cute, though.
Looks like some were tagged by users who tried to add cutie_mark but forgot the underscore.

That might be better, yes.
In any case, Mark definitely needs to be disambiguated: some cutie marks, some characters whom I assume are named Mark, and random markings and beauty marks.

How useful is cute anyway? We got rid of tags like beautiful, gorgeous, sexy, attractive etc. because they're subjective tags that don't have much use.

Looking through the cute posts, I see quite a lot of posts I don't think majority of people would deem "cute", and I also see a fair bit of explicit content; Which seems to go against the grain of the tag.

I've always hated the cute tag. Putting that out there. No one seems to be able to agree what it should be tagged on.

It's too overtagged to be of much use, and subjectiveness doesn't help. But someone must like it because several attempts to invalidate it have failed.

I agree with y'all:

disambiguations for both mark and cutie,
and invalidation for cute, as it is too overused to be a helpful search.

It's been so long since the last cute discussion that I forgot I took part in it.

forum #154973

Every time it gets brought up, it's said that it's a tag that needs to be cleaned and maintained, not invalidated.

Not only has the site grown enough to make that unfeasible, there's also the issue of nobody regularly cleaning these tags

Things have changed now. Too many posts, not enough cleaning. If anybody really wants to catalog all these different types of cute (we're up to 34k posts as of today), feel free to start making sets before it gets invalidated.

Now I noticed how this is problematic (maybe I should have thought a little more before voting).

Probably one of the biggest problems here is the ambiguity of the word "cute". It is used for creatures with "cute traits" (1), for some attractive individuals (2) and for romantic couples (3).

1)post #263050
2)post #1084436
3)post #1074063

So I guess we should create a disambiguation tag, but what tags we should use for those situations?

1) ???
2) ???
3) "romantic_couple" may work.
