LaBarbara is Hermes' wife and mother to their son Dwight Conrad. LaBarbara's first husband was Barbados Slim, the rival of Hermes, to whom she refers as a "human Adonis" and "a mahogany god". Barbados and Hermes competed frequently when he was an Olympic Class Limboist and while Barbados continued with his training Hermes opted for a life of quiet bureaucracy with LaBarbara and their son.
