While gut can be used to refer to the stomach or belly, it's more commonly used to describe the internal organs of a character or creature.

Most frequently, 'guts' refers to the digestive tract--stomach and intestines, though other internal organs may be featured as well. Generally speaking, the guts are what is normally hidden inside of a person.

Often, when guts are featured, there is gore and blood.

Not to be confused with Guts, the protagonist of the incredibly violent manga Berserk, or the children's action competition TV series Nickelodeon GUTS.
