Species: sabre hyena

A semi-fictional species of pachycrocuta, presenting large sabre teeth, denser musculature than modern hyenae, and darker striped colouration.

The Sabre Hyena is loosely based upon incorrect historical interpretations of Pachycrocuta Bellax ("Giant Striped Cave Hyena") remains found in Coygan Cave, Wales. This is now generally believed to be because of contamination from early man or Homo Neanderthalis, of whom inhabited the same site.
