An action RPG spinoff of the Mega Man series released in 2001 for the GameBoy Advance. It consists of 6 games and several spin-offs, including a sequel series, Mega Man Star Force. The series depicts an alternate universe where Dr. Light focused on information technology instead of robotics, creating a society that runs on smart technology and the internet. Classic Mega Man characters are adapted as "Net Navigators", or "Net Navis", sapient artificial intelligence programs that assist humans in navigating the net. (These versions are typically distinguished with a ".EXE" appended to their name.) The protagonist of the series is Lan Hikari, Dr. Light's grandson and the operator of Megaman.EXE, who contains the soul of Lan's deceased brother Hub Hikari.

The series also has an anime adaptation called MegaMan NT Warrior, which features the same characters but different plot elements. Notably, Lan and Megaman are not related in the anime continuity.
