kanji
Chinese characters are symbols used in the writing systems of Chinese languages, Japanese, sometimes Korean, and historically in Vietnamese. These symbols represent meaning or words rather than consonant or vowel sounds. This tag should be used whenever Chinese characters appear in isolation, which often makes it ambiguous which language they're supposed to be read in.
Note that the name of this tag is misleading: "kanji" refers to Chinese characters in Japanese, but this tag refers to Chinese characters in isolation regardless of language.
