BACKGROUND:
Born in the Ars Goetia Family, Raum underwent the standard treatment of Goetic youth. He lived in a luxurious mansion with servants at his every whim and received the right amount of education to get him through life. Raum had a relatively cold and distant relationship with his parents, however, the closest family member he had was his brother, Stolas. The two would sneak out late at night to go stargazing or play by the creek near the mansion, discussing topics such as personal dreams and goals. Every time Raum went out, he always brought back something as a form of remembrance ranging from things such as a rock or a twig.
Upon reaching his adult years, King Lucifer bestowed Raum the title of Earl along with his own grimoire. At first, Raum began to use this position to his advantage by using the grimoire to sneak into the human realm to bring down ancient empires and plunder their riches and artifacts to bring forth to Lucifer as gifts. The power started to get to Raum's head, believing that he could potentially reach a higher position if he simply carried out his acts. However, one such night would prove to be the last of his ventures. Raum had found himself in Feudal Japan where he sought out an empire ruled by a shogun named Ahmya. Unbeknownst to Raum, Ahmya was a hannya. The truth was that Ahmya was appointed by Lucifer in order to discipline Raum so that he wouldn't step out of line and let the power come to his head.
Raum was overwhelmed by Ahmya's formidable sword skill, besting the demonic earl with absolute ease. Upon his defeat, Ahmya took the mantle of Raum's mentor, undergoing rigorous training that would push him to his limits to a point where it nearly left him broken. Raum learned much from his training, his pride and arrogance being replaced with wisdom and humility.
Eventually, Raum would undergo a forced marriage with another Ars Goetia demon, Ryleigh, where the two would end up having a child together named Malphas. Raum would even form his own palace in the sky to house his family along all the artifacts and items he had acquired. While his relationship with Ryleigh was mutual at best, Raum genuinely loved his son and sought to teach him everything that he learned. Malphas looked up to his father and the two would become very close. However, as Malphas grew older, his relationship with his father began to gradually sour due to hateful views towards the lower class that he had garnered from his current studies in economics and technology. Despite Raum's best efforts to help steer Malphas into a better path with his wisdom, Malphas only scoffed at his father's attempts and called it 'fortune cookie nonsense'.
This conflict would reach its height when Ruam and Malphas entered a heated quarrel that resulted in his son leaving the establishment. Raum would soon endure another blow when he and Ryleigh ended up divorcing, though no anger or detestment was felt between the two. Raum would officially live the rest of his days in his floating palace. Despite the pain, Raum dared not shed a tear. He believed it was a sign of weakness and as such, he had remained cold for the rest of his days. Though, Stolas and Octavia would frequent his abode every now and again, bringing a slither of joy to Raum's otherwise bitter life.
However, one day, Raum received word from the Royal Courthouse where Malphas was being tried for many crimes against demon royalty such as mass destruction of public property, invasion of privacy, and testing live subjects so that he may forcefully wed Princess Charlie. Disgusted and reviled by such actions, Raum personally took it upon himself to disown Malphas and strip him from the Ars Goetia name. In doing so, however, Raum felt guilty. Having not doing much more to prevent his son from becoming a monster, Raum felt as though he had failed as a father. When returning back to his palace, Raum sat alone by his koi pond
And shed the first few tears in his whole life.
PERSONALITY:
Raum is quiet and reserved demon, always keeping a stable mind even in such a place like Hell. Despite his high status, Raum never looks down upon any lower class demons, treating them honor and respect much to the dismay of his brethren. However, Raum does have a cold side in regards to demons whom he doesn't like or trust. He'll do his best to maintain his bitter side but if they force his hand then he display hostility, especially if said demon attempts to bring harm to him or his loved ones.
Upon hearing the atrocities that Malphas had caused and stripping him from the Goetia name, Raum felt much regret and sadness that he had lost the closest thing in his life. Believing as though he was responsible for Malphas's downfall and had not stopped his son's actions before it was too late. The following days proved difficult for Raum, to a point he would frequently have nightmares of his own son. Raum, however, would realize that he could still fix the wrongs of the past by assisting Charlie in her endeavors to operate the Hazbin Hotel.
