Pokémon Snap is an on-rails photography game set in the Pokémon world. The player, acting as a Pokémon photographer named Todd Snap, takes photographs of Generation I Pokémon in various locations on "Pokémon Island", in order to provide Professor Oak with photo evidence to accompany his research that he has conducted there.
Pokémon Snap was developed by HAL Laboratory. It released on March 21, 1999 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan, and in the following months and year in other regions.
It was re-released for the Wii's Virtual Console in 2007, the Wii U's Virtual console in 2016, and later, the Nintendo Switch's Nintendo Classics service in 2022.
A sequel named New Pokémon Snap was released in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch. It was developed by Bandai Namco Studios.
