go (game)

Go is an ancient Chinese Boardgame played between 2 people using black and white stones. The game is played on a 19 x 19 grid. Each player has command of either all the black stones or all the white stones. Black goes first placing one of their stones on one of the points on the board where the lines intersect, meaning that their are 361 possible places where a stone can be placed on the board. White goes next, placing their stone somewhere on the board. Unlike other strategy boardgames like Chess, Checkers, and Shoji, the stones do not move once they are played. The goal of Go is to have your tiles create borders along the grid to surround areas of space on the board. The player who's cumulative areas is greatest once all the space is sectioned off ultimately wins. Bonus points can be collected by surrounding your opponent's stone's with your own. Each stone is worth an additional point.
