Detans are the race of the anthropomorphic animal characters that reside on the planet of Deta within the Deta’s Sagas stories. Characteristics of detans are that they always have 4 fingers and 4 toes, regardless of what species the detan resembles. Detans are always some type of large carnivorous or omnivorous animal with few exceptions, and prey animals are reserved for the feral fauna of the planet Deta. Albeit they do not resemble Earth’s prey animals one to one. For example, there can be no normal Detan who is a bug, horse, deer or rabbit.

Detan Reapers are simply augmented Detans. They can be distinguished by always having a black sclera compared to all other Detans who have white sclera. The Reaper augmentations are hereditary and dominant.
