It is set in the vast, anthropomorphic high fantasy setting of Aerodan: a world populated exclusively by sapient bipedal animals both large and small. Aerodan is periodically threatened by calamities, known as Scourges, wherein monsters multiply and, inevitably, overwhelm all levels of society. Nearly a hundred years after the dramatic conclusion of the Second Scourge, our story zooms into the heart of mammalian civilization: the Circle.

In the dying city of Ctesiphon, a female jackrabbit is at the culmination of her decade-spanning search to track down the very same hero that had saved the world before: The Slayer. She will attempt to petition him for a special kind of tutelage, one which the wolf fears above all else.
