Samantha "Sam" Strong is the main protagonist of IDW's Graphic Novel Thriller Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees.
She is a large female brown bear with a stocky build between in her late 30s early 40s who lives in the peaceful and picturesque town of Woodbrook and the owner of the local hardware store. She is frequently depicted wearing a plaid button up shirt, a yellow apron, goggles, etc. and is quite skilled with various tools.
Sam is a psychopath and as serial killer who, once or twice a year abducts, murders, dismembers, and buries a random person from the nearby city in a set of old paint cans as a form of stress relief. At the start of the story, she has murdered 43 individuals over the course of 20 years.
As a rule, she only murders people from the city and never anybody in her home of Woodbrook. She is also very careful to only go after people she knows won't be missed too much and makes sure to carefully make sure that they do not suffer or that their bodies are found, so she can continue living a mostly normal life in Woodbrook.
As stated above, Sam is a psychopath, while on the outside she seems like a normal person, in truth she has very few actual emotions, most notably love, empathy, or compassion towards other people. She is also very intelligent, methodical, cunning, and ruthless and will do whatever it takes to preserve her lifestyle.
