An axe with a head that has a bit (blade) on each side (the symmetry of the bits doesn't matter). This can refer to a wide range of axes with two bits. From tools to weapons, large or small. Examples include a double-bitted battle axe, a double-bitted felling axe, and a double-bitted hatchet.

Not to be confused with a double axe which is an axe with a head on each end of its shaft although the two can overlap with each other (a double-bitted double axe).
