The Venlil are a race of aliens prominent in the science fiction web serial novel The Nature of Predators. They are native to Venlil Prime, the third planet of the Gliese 832 star system.

Venlil are herbivorous, bipedal mammals with spindly, knock-kneed legs. They are rather short compared to humans, only standing as tall as the average person's shoulder. They also have a long tail often used for non-verbal communication, relatively flat facial features, rabbit-like ears, orange blood, and large, side-facing eyes with horizontal pupils. Most notably, the Venlil lack noses and, with it, any sense of smell. Their entire body is covered in woolly fur, typically solid grey in color with exception to sparse tufts and stripes. While the Venlil possess short claws, these are nearly useless for combat or defense purposes. This, along with their extremely skittish nature, makes one of the weakest species in the galaxy in the eyes of the Federation.
