When a screencap is altered by drawing or painting over parts of it, while leaving most of the original art.

Frequently this involves adding elements that turn a safe for work image into a suggestive or explicit image; it can also involve changing a character's outfit, turning one character into another character, or turning a(n often human) character into an alternative species.

Not to be confused with...

• screencap background — which involves drawing completely original artwork on top of a captured background, this is not a screencap edit
• screencap redraw — when a screencap is entirely redrawn, rather than edits to an existing screencap
• fake screencap — an post that is drawn to resemble a screencap from an animation or video, may feature style emulation
