«Space Dogs» or «Belka and Strelka» is a Russian series of films and series about the first cosmonaut dogs Belka and Strelka. The first part of the franchise was released in 2010. In 2023 the franchise was closed due to low viewer interest and the failure of the last full-length film. The franchise has three movies and three TV series.

Space Dogs - is a 2010 Russian animated adventure comedy film. The film is based on the Soviet space dogs Belka and Strelka, and honors the first animals who survived an orbital space trip, the Korabl-Sputnik 2 flight in August, 1960. In Poland it became the leader of the box-office on its first weekend, although in the United States it grossed poorly, making only $14,408 due to its limited release. He had great success in his homeland.
Space Dogs: Adventure to the Moon" - is a 2016 Russian animated film directed by Aleksander Khramtsov, Inna Evlannikova and Vadim Sotskov. It was released in Russia on February 6, 2014 and was released in the United States on January 15, 2016. Due to extremely poor marketing, it grossed only $283,099 in the US. It was a relatively good success in its home country.
Space Dogs: Return to Earth or "Tropical adventure" - is a 2020 Russian 3D animated comedy fantasy family film written by Danil Trotensko, Artem Milovanov, Mike Disa, Olga Nikiforova, Viktor Strelchencko and directed by Inna Evlannikova. The film was produced by Moscow studios KinoAtis and Gorky Film Studio. The creators from one of Russia's first national 3D animation studio rejoined to continue to animate the latest adventure of the canine heroes, Belka and Strelka. The film flopped at the box office due to the pandemic COVID-19 and was panned by both critics and audiences. It was almost never shown in cinemas in America and was almost immediately released on DVD and digital platforms, grossing $28,577.
TV series:
"Space Dogs: Family" (2012-2018) - Russian computer animated cartoon series. The premiere of the cartoon series took place on April 11, 2011 on the Russia-1 TV channel in the children's evening program "Good night, little ones!" The series is intended for children from 3 to 5 years old and was created by the Russian animation studio "KinoAtis", with state financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation (MKRF). The film takes place in the USSR, around three main characters - puppies, who are the children of the main characters of the Russian full-length animated cartoon "Belka and Strelka. Star Dogs". The series was never shown in America, although one episode was translated for the bly-ray edition of "Space Dogs: Return to Earth".
"Space Dogs: Sport Team"(2013-2014) - A series of short and funny stories about the competition of the "star" team Belka and Strelka with rivals in various winter sports at the Olympics. Joint overcoming of obstacles will teach the heroes that strength, agility, discipline and training are not enough to win. Without love for sports, friendship between teammates, mutual assistance and respect for the opponent, even the most talented athlete, the favorite of the competition, will not be able to become the first. Released for the Sochi Olympics, never aired in America.
"Space Dogs: Cosmic adventure" (2019-2023) - Russian computer animated cartoon series, and not only, but also a spin-off of the franchise. The premiere of the animated series took place on November 8, 2018. The series was created by the Russian animation studio KinoAtis, with state financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation (MKRF). The film takes place in the USSR, around four main characters - Belka, Strelka, Kazbek and their Venya, who are Russian dogs of the main characters of the spin-off "Mischievous Family" and also around four American characters - Fifi, Pedro, Bonnie and Wachowski from the full-length cartoon "Moon Adventures". The last series "Space Dogs", after which the series was closed, although a second season was planned. The series was supposed to be translated and shown in America, but after the series was closed, this was cancelled.
