If you watch the Pokemon anime, you'll know that his name is derived from Cameron* from Black and White series.
*In the Japanese Pokemon anime, Cameron's name is Kotetsu, who is named after a Japanese swordmaker of the Edo period, Nagasone Kotetsu .
