"Vanquished": is a lesser Soulslike meme referencing the victory message that comes onto the screen accompanied by the tune of a triumphant boom, before fading away to return to gameplay. The iconic caption originates with the 2009 game Demon's Souls and has been used with variation in all the Dark Souls games, Elden Ring and even Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has its own variant with associated Japanese words. All the captions use the same font and similar format but with some diversity in presentation, Sekiro's captions mainly differ in the use of kanji letters.
The messages vary from X having been "Vanquished", "Destroyed", "Slain", "Felled", "Slaughtered", and even the standout "Victory Achieved". Sekiro's victory message are a little different, with a few different victory messages such as "Shinobi Execution" with the kanji for the words 忍 (Ninja) and 殺 (Killed) above it.
