Species: amoeba (organism)

Amoeba (also spelled ameba or amœba) are eukaryotic, generally unicellular organisms falling under various different species, of which are not all directly related. They are characterised primarily by bloblike or amorphous cell shapes, an ability to absorb or engulf prey with their shapeless bodies, and generally able to mitose and split. Plurally, amoeba may be written as amoebae or amoebas.
