The GEICO Gecko, real name Martin the Gecko, is the anthropomorphic gecko mascot used in GEICO commercials.
The company's reptilian mascot, which is a talking Day Gecko, was created by The Martin Agency (which the character was named after) and most recently a CGI creature generated by Animation Director David Hulin. Making his debut in 1999, his first appearances featured him complaining about incessantly getting phone calls intended for GEICO by mistake due to his species, but he soon evolved into a willing spokesperson for the company.
