When any body part is drawn separated from the body, without being considered as real separation.
It's meant to be understood that the body part has not actually been severed or otherwise removed.
Often used to show interaction of almost off-screen characters with characters in focus.

Not to be confused with

• detachable_limbs - Limbs that can be removed and reattached
• floating_limbs - if the part is visibly (physically) not connected to the body but both seem to function as normal
• severed_limb - seeing a limb that has recently been severed
