Muppets are the name for puppet characters created by The Jim Henson Company. Muppets have a distinct and consistent visual style that distinguishes them from puppets made by other creators: rounded kid-friendly designs, bodies in bright primary and secondary colors, black-dot-on-white-ball cartoony eyes, soft plush skin, and unnatural skin colors on human muppets. Muppets characters can be of monsters, animals, humans, or objects. Muppets should not be confused with the more detailed and realistic Jim Henson puppets known as Creatures.
Muppets feature in the live action The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Bear in the Big Blue House, the traditionally animated and computer animated Muppet Babies, and several other series.
