Species: housefly

The common housefly. A species of dipteran. Those tiny flying insects that you see buzzing around near garbage piles and unguarded food. Along with the typical insectoid traits like six insect legs and antennas, they have a pair of huge red compound eyes, an exoskeleton whose color ranges from grey to black and two translucent insect wings. They do not chew their food as they don't have mandibles, instead they have a proboscis which they use to absorb and suck up food that they've digested into a slurry outside their bodies via digestive fluids which they've vomited on said food beforehand.

Like most insects, they're egg laying and go through metamorphosis which involves a larval stage (known as maggots) followed by an immobile pupal stage which ultimately ends in the flying adult form. They usually lay their eggs on decaying organic matter such as on the carcass of a dead animal, decaying fruit and even fecal matter.
