Species: cardinal-tanager
The genus Paroaria, also known as the cardinal-tanagers are a group of South American passerine birds, and members of the tanager family Thraupidae. These birds are recognized by their red feathers covering the head and neck area. Their fronts are predominantly white, with darker black or grey feathers on their backs, wings, and tail feathers.
The cardinal-tanagers can be distinguished from other cardinals by the coloration of their head feathers. Cardinalids do not typically have red feathers localized only to the head and neck.
