Species: red-capped cardinal

The red-capped cardinal (Paroaria gularis) is a passerine bird, and member of the tanager family Thraupidae. Despite the name this bird belongs to the genus Paroaria, a group containing the cardinal-tanagers, which are unrelated to cardinalids (true cardinals, and relatives).
