A server is a type of computer that provides data to other computers. Network resources are often managed through a dedicated server.

Servers are commonly depicted as bulky rectangular objects with many lights, and/or wires attached. The actual size of a server is much smaller, and there may be many individual servers housed on what is known as a server rack.
