Hummer (styled as 'HUMMER') was a brand of trucks and SUVs that was created in 1992, when American heavy vehicle manufacturer AM General began selling a civilian version of the military M998 HMMWV (commonly known as the 'Humvee') truck to the public.

The Hummer brand was later purchased by General Motors Company, which continued to sell the original military-based Hummer H1, alongside the Hummer H2 and H3 SUVs, both based on civilian vehicle platforms. Stretch limousines based on the H2 were and remain popular.

In 2010, the Hummer brand was discontinued due to rising oil prices and the effects of the Great Recession of 2008-2010.
