Species: domestic goat

The domestic goat, often casually referred to as simply goat, is the domesticated member of the Capra genus. There are over 300 distinct breeds of domestic goats; domestic goats are one of the oldest domesticated animals in the world, similar to the domestic sheep. Over the ages, breeds have been used to cultivate milks, meats, fleeces, and skins.

There are many differing terms for domestic goats depending on things such as age and gender. Female goats are referred to as does or nannies, intact males are called bucks or billies, castrated males are known as wethers, and juveniles are coined kids.

Domesticated goats play a key role in various facets of human cultures, often appearing in and being represented within language, symbology, and various culture's mythologies.
