"Elemental monkeys" is a popular, fanmade term in the Pokémon fandom meant to refer to the trio Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, and their respective evolutions Simisage, Simisear, and Simipour. The name comes from the fact that they are based upon monkeys and also have differing, elemental types. The elemental monkeys share similar movesets, similar general appearances and identical base stats. They all also evolve with their corresponding elemental evolutionary stones.

The monkeys share a heavy resemblance to regional starter trios, as they are a trio that consists of Grass-, Fire-, and Water-type Pokémon. Similarly to starter Pokémon, they are able to possess the starter specific Overgrow, Blaze, and Torrent Abilities as their Hidden Abilities and, starting in Generation VII, they are capable of learning their respective type of starter exclusive Pledge moves. The elemental monkeys also share the same gender ratio as starters.
