
Species: proailurus
An extinct, small felid genus of the eurasian subfamily proailurinae containing only three species. It is considered to be the most basal felid-- that is, the first true ancestor of the entire felid (cat) family. Proailurus was a small cat with similar proportions to vivverids and likely arboreal.
