The Smash Ball is an item found in the Super Smash Bros. series. First introduced in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it is a floating, rainbow-colored orb designed after the series's logo (an asymmetrical cross in a circle centered toward the lower left, with a thick vertical line and a thin horizontal line) that can appear at random during matches. When it does, players must smash the ball in order to activate a powerful ability known as a Final Smash, which varies for each character. Smashing the ball is easier said than done, as it will float all around the stage, it takes multiple hits to break it, and other players will fight over who gets the ball.

The newest entry in the series, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, introduces a Fake Smash Ball that has a modified imprint of the Smash logo (thin vertical line, thick horizontal line). If broken, it explodes, blasting all those who are near it off the screen.
